Building Relationships at the Y

During the YMCA Learning Academy in 2020, YMCA staff, Rudy, and student, Michael, connected and worked together through the pandemic and virtual learning. Now, two years later, Michael is still connected with Rudy by being a part of the YMCA’s Y Achievers program.

“To be honest, when I see Michael, I see authentic relationships. This photo is candid; this first photo was when Michael and I were learning about his new virtual class schedule, this was day one. Seeing him now walking through the halls at school, interacting with his friends and carrying his work; it gives me a feeling of accomplishment, pride, fulfillment, and hope. We are serving our purpose and mission as YMCA Professionals; I see this young person succeeding! This is why I am here with the Y, relationships like this.”
