The Journey to Wellness is a brand-new initiative designed to bring individuals, families, and the community together for a day of health-focused learning, support, and empowerment. This collaborative event, hosted by the Greater Green Bay YMCA and Emplify Health by Bellin, is the first of many opportunities to help you take control of your health and well-being.

At Journey to Wellness, you’ll find expert-led discussions, community resources, and interactive experiences designed to support people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. Whether you’re seeking guidance on nutrition, heart health, exercise, or overall wellness, this event provides the tools and information you need to thrive.

 

We’re excited to introduce a lineup of expert speakers who will share valuable insights on nutrition, heart health, and fitness strategies. These engaging sessions will provide practical knowledge to help you make informed choices about your health.

9:15 am: Nutrition and Cancer

Speaker: Jill Roup, RD – Emplify Health by Bellin
Jill Roup is a registered dietitian/nutritionist specializing in oncology nutrition. With over 20 years of experience at Bellin Health, Jill is passionate about supporting cancer patients through good nutrition. She will discuss how dietary habits can impact cancer treatment and recovery, helping individuals manage side effects and maintain strength throughout their journey.

 

10:15 am: Heart Health and the Importance of Exercise

Speaker: Dr. Kristofer Dosh, MD – Emplify Health by Bellin
Dr. Kristofer Dosh devotes the same amount of time and energy to the treatment of every patient, the same as he would expect to see for the treatment of his own family and friends. Dr. Dosh’s evidence-based practice recognizes that patients are complex individuals influenced by cultural background, lifestyle, and many other factors. He believes that decisions about medical care are never one size fits all. Dr. Dosh directs people towards guidelines-based  care, but customizes treatment, when necessary, based on the desires and needs of his patients and their families.

 

11:15 am: Program Training Strategies

Speaker: Nate Vandervest – Emplify Health by Bellin, Running Coach, CSCS, CES
A former Division I cross-country runner, Nate is dedicated to helping individuals optimize their running performance. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned athlete, he will share proven training techniques to enhance endurance, speed, and overall fitness. His expertise in strength training and corrective exercise sets him apart, making his session a must for anyone looking to improve their running technique.

Speaker: Sawyer Rode – Greater Green Bay YMCA, NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer
Sawyer specializes in corrective exercise, small group training, and athletic strength and conditioning. His session will provide insights on training techniques that cater to all fitness levels, from beginners to advanced athletes.

    Raising Athletes: Real Talk for Sports Parents with Randi Mahomes

    Join Randi Mahomes, proud mom of NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes, for an inspiring fireside chat with Greater Green Bay YMCA’s Interim CEO, Jamie Hanner, created especially for sports parents. Randi will share her personal journey of raising kids in competitive sports, offering real-life stories, hard-earned lessons, and honest advice for families navigating the world of youth athletics.

    “When Patrick was growing up, there were so many moments I wish I had a playbook for–times when I had no idea what the right decision was or how to best support him. Looking back, I’ve learned so much, and now I get to share those lessons with other parents walking that same path,” said Randi Mahomes.

    “That’s why I’m hosting an exclusive, private session during the Draft just for sports parents. I’ll be sharing some fun, behind-the-scenes stories from Patrick’s journey–things that didn’t make the headlines but helped shape who he is today.”

    In addition to the conversation, Randi will also unveil a new national project designed to empower and support parents of young athletes – a first look you won’t want to miss.
